The Practice
The Accountancy firm of P Mycock & Co. was established in September 1986 when Peter Mycock left Hacker Young to set up his own practice.
Peter started his career as an Articled Clerk with a small well-respected firm of Chartered Accountants in Nottingham before spending 6 years with Coopers & Lybrand both in the U.K. and abroad.
P Mycock & Co. initially operated with a part-time Practice Manager, two trainee accountants and a secretary but has expanded significantly especially over the last 11 years.
In December 1994 Tim Allatson joined the Practice as a Partner from Smith Cooper & Partners introducing a large number of new clients to the firm. The practice changed its name to Mycock, Allatson & Co. on 1 August 1997.
In June 1995 Richard Nowell joined the firm as Manager from Pannell Kerr Forster bringing considerable experience of managing the audits of medium-sized to large family-owned businesses and provision of ancillary services. Richard was made a partner of the firm on 1 July 1998.
In December 1998 the Practice acquired a small practice based at Sherwood, Nottingham, trading as Abbott & Ambridge.
In March 1999 the Practice recruited a Tax Manager, Carolyn Elliott, to deal with all tax compliance matters, tax planning, production of partnership and personal self-assessment tax returns, corporation tax computations and liaison with the Inland Revenue. Carolyn had previous experience of working for both the Inland Revenue and for a number of firms of Chartered Accountants.
On 4 June 2003 the Practice completed a merger with Harold T Hooley and Company, a firm based on The Ropewalk in Nottingham who were highly regarded and who had been established for over 75 years. The merger more than doubled the staff resources. It also greatly enhanced the range of expertise and service provision, which is now available from the merged practice of Mycock Hooley Allatson. Together with the continued investment in staff and technical resources, the merger enables the Practice to strengthen and consolidate our wide service provision especially in the areas of bookkeeping, payroll and management accounting.
The partners of Harold T Hooley and Company, Richard Burton and Richard Wood, who joined the merged practice as consultants, along with their dedicated staff, bring significant experience and a broad base of expertise to the team. Richard Burton and Richard Wood consultancy arrangements expired by mutual agreement on 31 May 2006 after allowing a satisfactory transfer of clients to the merged practice.
On 28 February 2006 Tim Allatson left the practice and the name was changed to MHA Chartered Accountants.
The Practice currently operates with two Partners and the following staff:
